Dr. Jelle Lamsma is Assistant Professor in Criminology at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Education includes criminology (VU Amsterdam), forensic psychiatry (University of Oxford), and Ph.D. in psychosis-violence relationships (Utrecht University). Research examines neurobiological mechanisms of violent behavior, treatment approaches, and risk prediction models.
Current investigations focus on psychiatric disorders (particularly psychosis) as violence risk factors, neuroimaging correlates of aggression, and validation of risk assessment instruments like OxMIV. Combines criminological methods with neurobiological approaches.
Teaching includes Methodology and Empirical Research, Developmental Criminology, Forensic Psychiatry, and Evidence-Based Interventions. Previously researched at Penitentiair Psychiatrisch Centrum Amsterdam and taught at Middlesex University London.
