Dr. Jeannie Holstein is a Senior Lecturer in Strategy and Innovation at Loughborough Business School since April 2024. Previously, she held roles at Nottingham University Business School (NUBS), including Assistant Professor in Strategic and Public Sector Management. She earned her PhD from the University of Nottingham (2015), MBA from NUBS, and a BA in Modern History from Oxford University.
Her research focuses on strategy as narrative, open strategizing, and the interplay between policy and strategy in policy-rich environments like higher education and social care. She explores storytelling’s role in organizing processes and inclusion/transparency in strategic change. Additional interests include craft-based grassroots organizing, particularly within ceramics communities.
Teaching spans undergraduate, MBA, MSc, PhD, and Executive Education programs. She led strategic management components for Executive MBA (UK/Singapore) and public policy modules in undergraduate programs. Recognized with Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy for inclusive teaching practices and mentorship.
Service roles include Athena Swan Lead, Deputy Director of Accreditation, and PhD Senior Tutor at NUBS. Engaged in external examining, mentoring, and curriculum development. Research appears in journals like Organisation Studies and Strategic Organisation, and the Cambridge Handbook of Open Strategy.
Labs/Teams: Active in the International Business, Strategy and Innovation research group. Collaborates on interdisciplinary projects linking craft practices to organizational theory.
