Paris-Saclay Universityمعرفی
Jean-Christophe Harmand is a CNRS Senior Researcher (DR1) and heads the Department of Materials at the Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (C2N), a joint unit of CNRS and Université Paris-Saclay. He has held key roles including Deputy Director of C2N since 2016. His career spans over 35 years in semiconductor materials research.
Education:
- PhD in Physics, University Paris 7 (1988)
- Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches, University Paris 7 (1998)
Research Focus: Specializes in real-time monitoring of nanostructure growth via molecular beam epitaxy (MBE), nanowire growth mechanisms, and nanowire applications in photovoltaics/photonics. Pioneered MBE integration with transmission electron microscopy for atomic-scale growth observation.
Awards:
- CNRS Silver Medal (2012)
Leadership Roles:
- Coordinated 30+ teams in the French GdR Nanofils et Nanotubes Semiconducteurs (2006–2014)
- Developed GaNAsSb epilayers and metamorphic transistor structures
Labs & Infrastructure: Principal investigator at C2N, leveraging unique MBE-TEM facilities for in situ nanowire growth analysis.
