Dr. Jasper Sluijs is an Associate Professor in Competition Law and Regulation at Utrecht University's School of Law. He holds a PhD (cum laude) from Tilburg Law School and has held Fulbright scholarships at the University of Pennsylvania and Georgia Institute of Technology. His research focuses on state-owned enterprises, sustainability transitions, and competition law enforcement on mixed markets. He co-directs the Public Interest Ecosystems research cluster and participates in the Markets and Corporations in Open Societies platform. Dr. Sluijs teaches EU competition law in the LLM Law & Economics program and has pioneered legal design education, earning grants from the Utrecht Education Incentive Fund. Previously, he worked in private practice advising on EU law and regulatory compliance. He also served as a visiting scholar at the National University of Singapore in 2023.

Research Interests: Dr. Sluijs explores how state ownership can advance sustainability goals without distorting markets. Recent projects address regulatory challenges in energy transition, antitrust risks in mixed markets, and the role of public entities in competitive environments.
