Jason H. Nam serves as Associate Professor of Music in Bands at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music, directing the Concert Band and teaching undergraduate/graduate courses in instrumental conducting, school band administration, and wind literature. An active conductor and clinician across North America, he maintains significant professional engagement beyond campus.

Nam's research centers on wind band evolution and performance practice, examining William Bolcom's compositions, Igor Stravinsky's wind chamber works, twentieth-century repertoire development, and conductor rehearsal techniques. His scholarship appears in the Journal of the National Band Association and Journal of Band Research, emphasizing practical applications for ensemble directors.
His major recognition includes being named a national finalist for The American Prize in Conducting (Band/Wind Ensemble division) in 2017.
Nam previously served as lecturer at California State University, San Bernardino and high school band director in Santa Barbara. From 2016-2021, he led the Southern Indiana Wind Ensemble, performing at regional conferences including the Ohio Music Educators Association event. He also directs the IU Summer Music Clinic and serves on the National Band Association/Revelli Composition Contest committee.
