Dr. Jason Annetts is the Head of the Sociology Division at Abertay University's Faculty of Social and Applied Sciences. He has been with the university since 1999, initially as a Lecturer in Sociology, and has held roles including Programme Leader and Acting Director of Academic Programmes. His research focuses on family dynamics, public health, sexuality, and social movements, with notable contributions to NHS and Scottish Government initiatives on sexual health and primary education curricula.
Dr. Annetts teaches five modules, including Key Skills for Higher Education and Sociology of Gender and Sexuality, and lectures on contemporary social theory. His work spans grant-funded projects such as evaluating school anti-smoking initiatives and analyzing student transition experiences. He serves on the Board of Caledonia Youth and as an External Examiner at the University of Central Lancashire.
His research highlights include studies on widening access to higher education and policy reviews for governmental health strategies. Collaborations with organizations like NHS Tayside and the Scottish Government underscore his engagement with applied social science.
