Jarett D. Berry

Jarett D. Berry is a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center, specializing in Cardiology. He serves as a Dedman Family Scholar in Clinical Care and focuses on primary prevention in cardiovascular medicine. His research emphasizes cardiovascular disease risk assessment, epidemiology, and long-term health outcomes.

Dr. Berry earned his medical degree and completed residency at UT Southwestern, followed by fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and epidemiology at Northwestern University. Board certified in internal medicine and cardiology, he has been at UT Southwestern since 2008. His work is funded by the American Heart Association (AHA) and NIH, and he leads the Dallas Heart Study. He collaborates with the Cooper Institute on longitudinal studies.

He has published nearly 100 peer-reviewed articles, with key research on blood pressure management, biomarkers, and cardiorespiratory fitness. His awards include the AHA’s Elizabeth Barrett-Connor Award. His clinical and research interests bridge preventive cardiology, chronic disease management, and population health strategies.
