Ambarish Pandey is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center with a secondary appointment in Geriatric Medicine. He serves as Medical Director of the HFpEF program, Associate Program Director for Internal Medicine Residency Research, and attending physician in cardiology/echocardiology.
Dr. Pandey earned his medical degree from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (New Delhi), completed internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at UT Southwestern, and holds a master's in clinical science from the same institution.
His research focuses on geriatric cardiology and population-level prevention of heart failure, particularly HFpEF in older adults. He investigates modifiable lifestyle risk factors (obesity, physical inactivity) and develops novel screening strategies for high-risk individuals through NIH-funded studies in the Cardiometabolic Research Unit.
Dr. Pandey has received the American Heart Association's Elizabeth Barrett-Connor Research Award and Steven N. Blair Award for Physical Activity Research, and is a National Institute on Aging GEMSSTAR scholar studying race-based differences in cardiorespiratory fitness decline.
As Principal Investigator with over 100 peer-reviewed publications, he serves on AHA committees including Scientific Sessions Planning and Epidemiology Early Career, while mentoring residents through the Internal Medicine Residency Research program.
