Darren K. McGuire

Dr. Darren McGuire is a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and serves as Lead Physician for the Parkland Health Outpatient Cardiology Clinic. A faculty member since 2001, he is an active researcher and clinician specializing in cardiovascular disease prevention among diabetic patients, with over 100 peer-reviewed publications to his credit.

His educational background includes a chemistry bachelor's degree from Hendrix College, an M.D. from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, internal medicine residency at UT Southwestern, and advanced cardiology training at Duke University where he earned a Master's in Health Sciences in Clinical Trials. His fellowship included two years of research at the Duke Clinical Research Institute on international clinical trials.

Dr. McGuire's research focuses on diabetes-cardiovascular disease interactions, risk modification strategies, and clinical trial methodology.
