Dr Jao Carminati is a Research Fellow at Monash University’s School of Psychological Sciences, affiliated with the Monash-Epworth Rehabilitation Research Centre. Her work focuses on functional, psychological, and cognitive rehabilitation for individuals with acquired brain injury (ABI), emphasizing qualitative and co-design research methods. She leads projects addressing cyberscam vulnerability in ABI populations, co-designing clinical resources, and exploring suicidality post-ABI.
Her doctoral research developed the CyberAbility Scale, a psychometric tool assessing cyberscam risk for ABI patients, supported by The auDA Foundation. She has published widely, presented at over 10 conferences, and delivers community workshops on online safety for disability sectors. Her contributions were recognized with the Emerging Digital Health Researcher Award (2021).
