Janet Luimes is an Associate Professor and Academic Lead in Academic Programming at the University of Saskatchewan's College of Nursing. She holds a BScN (2005) and MScN (2008) from the University of Ottawa, and a Post-master’s Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner Diploma from McMaster University (2010). Her clinical and academic career focuses on primary health care, nurse practitioner competency development, and innovative educational strategies.
- Research Interests: Nurse Practitioner education, primary health care innovation, competency evaluation, and mixed-methods research.
- Teaching: Courses include Advanced Practice Nursing, Health Assessment, and Primary Health Care Practicum modules.
Her work integrates clinical practice with education, emphasizing the optimization of the Nurse Practitioner role. Recent grants include studies on simulation-based competency development (2023–2025) and improving quality of life for long-term care residents (2019–2024). She actively contributes to external committees like SASKGuidelines Provincial Committee and the Canadian Nurses Association’s Continuing Competency Program.
