Dr. Janet Kemei is an Assistant Professor at MacEwan University's Department of Mental Health Nursing and Community Wellness. She holds a PhD in Nursing from the University of Ottawa and a BScN from the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton.
- Education: PhD (Nursing), University of Ottawa; MSc (unknown field); BScN (Nursing), University of Eastern Africa, Baraton; RN (Registered Nurse).
Research Interests focus on the health of Black women and children, intersectionality (race, gender, migration status), and inequities in healthcare access. She employs qualitative methodologies, including Participatory Action Research and Critical Theory, to examine perinatal mental healthcare access in Alberta and maternal care in Kenya.
Recent Publications include scoping reviews on intersectional research methods, vaccine hesitancy, and Black youth mental health during the pandemic. She collaborates with interdisciplinary teams in Canada and Kenya.
