Jane Whynot is a Lecturer at Carleton University’s School of Public Policy and Administration, specializing in evaluation methodologies and gender-based analysis. She holds a PhD from the University of Ottawa’s Institute of Feminist and Gender Studies, with a focus on integrating Gender-based Analysis Plus (GBA+) into government evaluation systems. Her academic background includes a Master of Assessment and Evaluation (University of Melbourne) and a graduate certificate in Policy and Program Evaluation (Carleton University).
Her research emphasizes equity, diversity, and inclusion in evaluation practices, intersectionality, and mentoring in evaluation education. Jane has taught courses such as PADM5443: Qualitative Research Methods in Evaluation, focusing on qualitative data analysis and research design. She is also a former Past-President of the Canadian Evaluation Society’s National Capital Chapter and co-chair of its 2014 national conference.
Jane’s professional contributions include roles as Book Review Editor for the Canadian Journal of Program Evaluation and judge for the CES Educational Fund Case Competition. She has been recognized nationally for her leadership in evaluation, including awards for service to the evaluation community and leadership in advancing gender-focused methodologies.
