Jane Bailey is a Full Professor in the Common Law Section at the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Law and a faculty member at the Centre for Law, Technology and Society. She co-leads the SSHRC-funded eQuality Project ($2.5M, 7-year), focusing on youth digital experiences and corporate profiling. She also co-leads the Autonomy Through Cyberjustice Technologies Project ($2.5M, 5-year), investigating AI in justice systems. She chairs Working Group 3 on AI's social/ethical implications.

Her research integrates law, technology, and human rights, with a focus on technology-facilitated violence, digital privacy, and AI governance. She advises on UN Commission on the Status of Women and the Ontario Privacy Commissioner's Advisory Council. Her 2021 co-edited handbook on tech violence synthesis global legal approaches.
Her advocacy includes representing complainants in landmark cases like the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal's first internet hate speech case and leading counsel for the Canadian Internet Policy and Public Interest Clinic in Supreme Court voyeurism rulings.
