Karine Gentelet is an Associate Professor in the Department of Social Sciences at the Université du Quebec en Outaouais and an Associate Member at the University of Ottawa's Centre for Law, Technology and Society. She serves as Scientific Director for Civil Society Collaboration at OBVIA and led the Research Chair in Artificial Intelligence and Social Justice (2020–2022) at École Normale Supérieure-Abeonas-OBVIA.
Her research focuses on Indigenous rights, ethical AI, and digital technology's role in social justice. She leads a project at the Cyberjustice Laboratory on AI empowerment for marginalized groups and collaborates with the Centre interuniversitaire de recherche et d'études autochtones (CIERA). Since 2007, she has worked with Amnesty International on human rights advocacy.
