Jan Albert van Laar is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Groningen. He serves as Vice Dean of the Faculty and holds roles such as Editorial Board Member for Argumentation, Argument & Computation, and Topoi. His research focuses on multimodal argumentation, fallacies, deliberative negotiation, and argumentation software. He leads projects funded by the Dutch Science Foundation, including work on dialogue-theoretical approaches and apps for deliberative negotiation.
