Dr. James Nowack serves as Professor of Music at Wisconsin Lutheran College, where he has taught since 1994. Holding a DMA from The University of Iowa, he directs the Wisconsin Lutheran Choir and teaches courses in choral conducting, form and analysis, and aural skills. His scholarship focuses on the expressive power of choral music to convey theological and emotional content through performance.
Nowack has guest conducted at national worship conferences and adjudicated competitions including the ACDA Young Conductor's Competition. The Wisconsin Lutheran Choir has performed internationally at venues like St. Martin-in-the-Fields (London) and St. Patrick's Cathedral (Dublin), with recordings including Shout the Glad Tidings (2020) and A Spotless Rose (2015).
