Rev. James M. Lies, C.S.C., serves as Senior Advisor for Faculty Fellow Affairs and Partnerships at the Nanovic Institute for European Studies and holds the title of Professor of Teaching at the University of Notre Dame. He also oversees the Notre Dame London Global Gateway's Academic Initiatives & Partnerships program. His roles emphasize academic leadership, partnership coordination across European institutions, and program development for student engagement. He resides in Duncan Hall as Priest-in-Residence, providing sacramental ministry.

He actively integrates interdisciplinary approaches, blending theological, psychological, and policy frameworks to address global and regional challenges in education and mission.
Advising & Grants: Directs the Serving in Europe program, preparing students for service missions, and coordinates the Catholic Universities Partnership linking six European Catholic institutions. Oversees the Faculty Fellows program at the Nanovic Institute, fostering collaborative research. His past grants include roles at the University of Portland and Stonehill College, where he led mission initiatives and academic departments.
Labs/Teams: Oversees the G.K. Chesterton Collection at the London Global Gateway and collaborates with the Nanovic Institute's global network. Key team roles include leadership in mission offices and academic centers across institutions.
