James M. Leonhardt is the Phil and Jennifer Satre Professor of Marketing at the University of Nevada, Reno College of Business. He holds affiliations with the Ozmen Institute for Global Studies and has been a Visiting Scholar at the SGH Warsaw School of Economics and Adolfo Ibáñez University. His academic journey includes a B.A. from UC Berkeley and a Ph.D. from UC Irvine’s Paul Merage School of Business, with further studies at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development. Dr. Leonhardt is a member of multiple editorial boards and consults on innovation and entrepreneurship internationally.
He teaches five courses annually, including Integrated Marketing Communications and Digital Marketing, and has developed teaching materials on Marketing Ethics through the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative. His research focuses on cross-cultural consumer behavior, psycholinguistics, and digital marketing strategies, emphasizing how linguistic features and cultural contexts shape consumer decisions. Notable awards include the 2023 Phil & Jennifer Satre Endowed Professorship and the 2021-2023 Dean’s Research Professor Award.
