Jakob Sierau is a Researcher at the University of Hamburg's Faculty of Education, affiliated with the Department of Educational Science with a Focus on International Educational Monitoring and Reporting under Prof. Dr. Schwippert. His role involves contributing to the TIMSS 2023 project, a large-scale international study funded by BMBF and KMK. He holds an M.Sc. in Psychology (specializing in Teaching, Learning, and Competency Development) and a B.A. in Education and Psychology from Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena.
Research interests include teacher stress and workload, quantitative research methods, and empirical educational research using large-scale assessments. He actively participates in the TIMSS 2023 project, analyzing primary school teaching quality and teacher training. He teaches courses on quantitative methods and educational theory at the University of Hamburg.
His notable publication in 2024, co-authored with LA Scholz et al., explores teaching quality and teacher training in primary schools, part of the TIMSS 2023 international comparative study. Sierau is a member of the DGfE-Sektion Empirical Educational Research and the Arbeitsgruppe Empirische Pädagogische Forschung.
