Jackie Campbell

Prof. Jackie Campbell is a part-time Professor of Neurophysiology at the University of Northampton, affiliated with the Health, Education & Society research group and the Centre for Health Sciences and Services. She holds roles in the NIHR East Midlands Research Design Service and leads statistical consultancy work. Her expertise spans neurophysiology, pain mechanisms, clinical research design, and healthcare ethics.

Education: Holds a BSc(Hons) in Radiation Physics (Liverpool, 1975), MSc in Medical Physics (Surrey, 1977), PhD in Neurophysiology (Liverpool, 1985), and MSc in Applied Statistics (Sheffield Hallam, 2004). She is a Chartered Statistician and Physicist, with fellowships in the Royal Statistical Society and Royal Biological Society.

Research focuses on pain assessment, electrophysiological measurement, digital health interventions, and healthcare evaluation. She leads projects on chronic kidney disease, dementia care, and cognitive function assessment in older adults. Recent work includes the Kidney BEAM digital intervention for kidney patients and lifelong learning programs for dementia patients.

She has supervised 19 doctoral students and examined multiple PhDs. Awards include Honorary Fellowships from the Pain Relief Foundation and College of Occupational Therapists. Current projects address cancer prevention health inequalities and cognitive decline triage systems.

External roles include NIHR mentorship, The Lancet statistical panel membership, and NHS ethics committee experience. She advocates for research capacity development and multidisciplinary collaboration in healthcare innovation.
