Dr. Jack McGowan is a Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of English, Media & Culture at the University of Worcester. He serves as Course Leader for Creative and Professional Writing, overseeing poetry modules across the School of Humanities. His research focuses on contemporary poetry, performance poetry in the UK since the mid-20th century, and the oral roots of poetry, alongside new media, digital literature, and creative writing pedagogies.

Research Interests:
Jack explores performance poetry’s academic reception, affective and bodily responses to poetry, spatial dynamics in performance, and digital-age creative writing pedagogy. He contributed to the Glasgow School of Art’s The Library is Dead! Long Live the Library! poetry installation project and advocates for modernizing creative writing education.
