معرفی
Dr. Janet Richardson is a Senior Lecturer in Earth Sciences, specializing in GIS, geomorphology, and sedimentology. Her work focuses on hydrology assessments, bedrock rivers, sediment transport, and catchment management. She holds a PhD in Sedimentology and Geomorphology from the University of Leeds (2016) and an MPhil in Geomorphology from Aberystwyth University (2012). Richardson has led NERC-funded fellowships, including an Industrial Mobility Fellowship collaborating with Yorkshire Water to study sediment dynamics in the River Derwent and a Knowledge Exchange Fellowship integrating sedimentology into catchment decision-making.
Her research interests include long-term source-to-sink studies, erosion quantification, and the impact of environmental factors like Signal Crayfish on sediment budgets. Key collaborations involve the Environment Agency, Natural England, and Ricardo Energy and Environment. She advances practical applications of NERC science in catchment management, emphasizing cost-effective decision-making and stakeholder engagement.
- Education:
- PhD in Sedimentology and Geomorphology, University of Leeds (2012–2016)
- MPhil in Geomorphology, Aberystwyth University (2011–2012)
Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11) and climate action (SDG 13). Richardson’s recent publications address pediment formation, ice sheet impacts on drainage networks, and sediment forecasting in managed catchments.
She has received accolades including NERC fellowships and her research has been cited widely, with notable impact in Earth Surface Dynamics and Gondwana Research. Richardson actively mentors PhD students and fosters interdisciplinary networks to bridge research and practical applications in environmental management.
