Paul Brewer is a Professor of Physical Geography at Aberystwyth University's Department of Geography and Earth Sciences. He holds a BSc from UCW and a PhD from Aberystwyth University. His research focuses on fluvial geomorphology, metal mining impacts on river systems, sediment dynamics, and environmental contamination. Current roles include Director of Fluvio river basin consultancy and membership in multiple university committees.
Research interests include geomorphology, channel pattern change, siltation, and the effects of tailings dam failures. He has supervised over 20 projects, including the EU-funded COWEB project and NERC's Virtual Observatory initiative. Notable collaborations include studies on Cretan river responses to uplift and global mining impacts. His work contributes to UN SDGs related to clean water and sustainable resource management.
