معرفی
Dr David Simm is a Senior Lecturer in Physical Geography at Bath Spa University's School of Sciences. His work bridges fluvial geomorphology and pedagogical innovation, focusing on lowland river flooding, river restoration, and urban river regeneration. He is also a leading expert in experiential and problem-based learning during international fieldwork.
- Education: PhD (University of Exeter), BSc (Aberystwyth University)
Research interests center on:
- Fluvial Geomorphology: Sedimentation patterns, floodplain dynamics, and river restoration techniques.
- Pedagogical Innovation: Designing student-led fieldwork, peer mentoring, and integrating emotional geographies into transformative learning.
Recent publications highlight two major strands: (1) pedagogical frameworks for international fieldwork (2025–2023), emphasizing emotional intelligence and collaborative learning, and (2) geomorphological studies (1992–2008), including modeling floodplain flows and sediment deposition.
Scientific Recognition:
- National Teaching Fellow (2020), Advance HE
- Senior Fellow, Higher Education Academy
His teaching strategies integrate peer-led learning, crisis resolution in student fieldwork, and reflective assessment. He has presented at 25+ conferences (1992–2025), including RGS-IBG and Royal Geographical Society events, focusing on emotional geographies and pedagogical innovation.
