Ivan Rupnik is a Tenured Associate Professor at Northeastern University’s School of Architecture in Boston. His academic career includes positions at Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Syracuse University, Harvard University, and the Rhode Island School of Design. He holds a BARCH from Louisiana State University (LSU) and an MARCH/PhD from Harvard University.

Rupnik’s research explores the intersection of instability/transitional moments and architectural innovation, focusing on exceptions to regulatory frameworks. His work emphasizes strategies for urban design in non-standard contexts, as seen in his books Project Zagreb and A Peripheral Moment. His design projects include strategic spatial plans for the University of Zagreb and public space interventions in Zagreb.
Since 2014, he has served as Associate Editor of the Journal of Architectural Education. His design work has been exhibited globally, including at the Venice Biennale and Zagreb Biennale.
Collaborative projects include spatial development initiatives for universities and cities, reflecting his commitment to applied architectural agency in transitional environments.
