Ivan Ilić is an Assistant Professor of Jazz Trombone at the University of Belgrade's Faculty of Music, where he teaches in the Department of Jazz and Popular Music. His responsibilities include instruction in jazz ensembles, Big Band performance, and music production software (CUBASE, Sibelius).
He holds a Professional Diploma in Commercial Arranging from Berklee College of Music (1992), a Specialist degree in Conducting (2008) and Master's in Jazz Trombone (2017) from University of Belgrade, and a Doctorate of Arts (2020) in interdisciplinary multimedia art studies from University of Arts in Belgrade.
His research focuses on jazz performance, musical theatre composition, and multimedia integration in music. Creative works include original scores for theatrical productions like 'Golje' (2001) and 'The Cave' (2019), and orchestrations for Broadway musicals including 'A Chorus Line' and 'The Producers'.
Professionally, he serves as President of the Serbian Association of Jazz, Pop and Rock Musicians, heads the Performers' Rights Organization (PI), and leads the Center for Belgrade Festivals (CEBEF). His performance career includes appearances at Montreux Jazz Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival, and collaborations with artists like Benny Golson and Dianna Schuur.
