Isidoro Michan-Guindi (b. 1990, Mexico City) is a Visiting Critic at Cornell University's College of Architecture, Art, and Planning, where he teaches Option Studio and History & Theory seminars. Trained at Cornell (B.Arch 2015) and Princeton (M.Arch 2018), he established Taller Isidoro Michan-Guindi in Mexico City in 2019, operating as a thriving laboratory for architectural experimentation.
His research explores the intersection of architectural design with animal behavior, particularly bowerbird courtship structures, examining how forced perspective, visual deception, and ornamental beauty inform architectural practice. Michan-Guindi's work questions fundamental architectural concepts such as composition, gravity, comfort and functionality through cardboard models, concrete prototypes, and electro-robotic components that transform into intelligent architectural proposals ranging from door handles to housing towers.
His publications analyze architecture through biological and aesthetic lenses, with notable works including 'Charade Aesthetics: A Foray into the Bowerbirds' Courtship Structures' (2018) and 'RAW DWELLING' (2020). His recent 'Hybrid Creatures' exhibition at Liga DF (2023) showcased projects embodying his concept of architecture that is 'half building, half something else' with strong animistic qualities.

Michan-Guindi's studio functions as an active research laboratory where traditional architectural boundaries dissolve. His team—including Mariel Avilés Mariscal, Luis Iván Méndez González, and Leslie Pascoe Chalke—collaborates with international partners like Mads Bjørn Christiansen and Cristina Díaz Moreno y Efrén García Grinda. Current projects include the Column House in Valle de Bravo (2021-present), which exemplifies his exploration of circular-to-square transitions, floating structures, and architectural ornamentation that challenges conventional spatial organization.
