Anthony P. Reeves has been a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Cornell University since 1982. He also holds a faculty position in the Department of Radiology at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University since 2000. His career spans academic roles at Purdue University, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and visiting positions at the University of Wisconsin, McGill University, and Pavia University.
Reeves earned a B.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kent at Canterbury (1970, 1973). His research focuses on computer methods for digital image analysis, particularly in biomedical applications such as automated lung cancer detection from CT scans, four-dimensional optical section analysis, and multidimensional image segmentation for veterinary and microgravity studies.
- Key research areas: Biomedical Imaging, Computer Aided Diagnosis, Artificial Intelligence, Signal Processing
- Notable projects: Web-based clinical data management systems, sphere tracking in microgravity, canine hip dysplasia analysis
His recent publications (2015–2016) emphasize automated segmentation techniques for medical imaging, pulmonary nodule characterization, and evaluation of algorithms for large-scale CT datasets in lung cancer screening.
Reeves' work bridges engineering and medical sciences, fostering collaboration between computational methods and clinical applications. He has contributed to innovations in image analysis tools for radiology and biomedical research.
