Ziv Goldfeld is an Associate Professor at Cornell University's School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, with graduate field appointments in Computer Science, Statistics and Data Science, Operations Research, and Applied Mathematics. He completed his postdoctoral research at MIT's LIDS and holds B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees (all summa cum laude) from Ben Gurion University of the Negev in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
His research focuses on optimal transport theory, information-theoretic security, and quantum divergence estimation. Key methodologies include entropic regularization, Gromov-Wasserstein alignment, and sliced mutual information for scalable statistical dependence. Awards highlight his work on NSF CAREER and IBM University Awards.
- Selected Publications: 2024 papers on quantum entropy estimation, Gromov-Wasserstein stability, and robust statistical alignment; 2023 work on neural entropic alignment algorithms.
- Honors: NSF CAREER, IBM University Award, Rothschild Postdoctoral Fellowship, Michael Tien Teaching Excellence.
- Teaching: Courses on machine learning foundations, information theory, and optimal transport applications at Cornell since 2019.
