Isabel Celata is an Instructor of Music at Beloit College and an adjunct instructor of voice at Ripon College. She is currently completing her Doctorate of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) in Vocal Performance with a minor in Musicology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (A.B.D.).
Education: B.A. in Music and Political Science from Rhodes College; M.M. in Vocal Performance from the University of Memphis.
Her research focuses on vocal pedagogy and musicology, particularly the application of musical theatre techniques to classical singing. Her dissertation, “The Pedagogical Advantages of Cross-Training the Voice: Using Musical Theatre to Advance the Technique of Classical Singers,” explores interdisciplinary vocal training.
A noted performer, Celata is known for cross-genre roles such as Kate Monster in Avenue Q and Elva in Scott Gendel’s opera Everlasting Faint. She has performed with the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra and Middleton Community Orchestra, emphasizing new operatic works.
Maintains a private voice studio in Madison and teaches at the Hendricks Center for the Arts, Studio 226.
