Iris Ai Wang is an Associate Professor at Winona State University's Department of History & Legal Studies within the College of Liberal Arts. She specializes in East Asian and World History, incorporating environmental, ecological, and gender perspectives into her teaching and research. Her work emphasizes a global historical perspective in an age of globalization.
Dr. Wang holds a PhD from Washington State University (2014), with prior degrees from Tianjin Normal University. She has taught at Sam Houston State University and joined Winona State University in 2015. Her courses include Modern Chinese History, East Asian Civilization, and World History.
Her current research examines environmental and urban historical dimensions of river management in early 20th-century Tianjin, focusing on the Hai River. This project integrates modern science, technology, imperialism, and cultural change in China.
Outside academia, she enjoys nature photography and walking along Winona Lake, reflecting her appreciation for tranquility and environmental engagement.
