Dr. Xiuyu Wang is an Associate Professor of History at Washington State University, specializing in Chinese, East Asian, and Modern World History. His doctoral training at Carnegie Mellon focused on the history and anthropology of modern China.
Research Evolution: Expanded from Kham Chinese-Tibetan borderland studies to broader examinations of political relations between state and frontier society in 20th century Chinese Southwest, analyzing co-evolution of political relations, regional economy, and ecology influenced by external cultural and ideological forces.
