Professor Ira Shafiroff is a Professor of Law at Southwestern Law School, where he has taught since 1982. He holds a B.A. in History from Brooklyn College (1973) and a J.D. magna cum laude from Southwestern Law School (1980). His academic roles include serving as Associate Dean/Dean of Students (1990–1993) and holding the endowed Irving D. and Florence Rosenberg Professorship since 2002.
Professor Shafiroff specializes in property law, tax law, and estate planning. He has authored influential casebooks including Property Law: Fundamental Principles and Moral Concerns (2012, 2nd ed. 2023) and First-Year Law School Success. His research bridges Jewish legal traditions with modern American law, emphasizing the historical precedents of Jewish law in shaping U.S. legal frameworks.
His teaching spans courses like Property, Trial of Jesus Seminar, and Legal Profession.
