Prof. Dr. Inken Schmidt-Voges is a Professor of Early Modern History at Philipps-Universität Marburg, Germany, and Head of the subproject C03 on 'The House as Security and Gender (In-)Security' (2018–2021). She holds leadership roles including Dean of Studies at FB06 (History and Cultural Sciences) and Board Member of the Center for Gender Studies and Feminist Futures Studies. Her research focuses on political culture, domestic structures, and gender history in early modern Europe, with a particular emphasis on Sweden and Central/Northwest Europe.
Education: PhD (2003) and Habilitation (2012) in History from the University of Osnabrück. Previously served as Dean of FB06 (2018–2019) and DFG lecturer at Marburg (2019–present). Key projects include studies on peacebuilding, domestic peace semantics, and the role of 'house' in societal frameworks.
Research interests span historical peace studies, cultural transfer processes, and the intersection of gender with power structures. She leads editorial series such as Gender.Power.State and Politics & Culture in Europe 1650–1750, reflecting her interdisciplinary approach.
Publications include major handbooks like Handbuch Frieden im Europa der Frühen Neuzeit (2021) and edited volumes on domestic spaces and gender. Her work bridges legal, social, and cultural facets of early modern life, emphasizing spatial and institutional dynamics.
