Idris Bedirhanoglu

Prof. Idris Bedirhanoglu is a Visiting Professor at Mansfield College of Engineering, Oxford University with over 20 years in academia. Previously held roles include Professor of Structural Engineering at Dicle University (2023), Research Scientist at NYU Abu Dhabi (2019-2020), and Associate/Assistant Professor roles at Dicle University (2010-2018). His expertise spans seismic design, structural retrofitting, and materials science.

Education: PhD from Istanbul Technical University and Purdue University. Specializes in earthquake-resistant design for RC/masonry structures, FRP composite retrofitting, non-destructive testing, and fuzzy logic modeling. Has consulted on over 100 industrial projects and is a shareholder in StruConGeo Engineering & Consultancy Ltd.

Research focuses on seismic behavior of existing structures, innovative retrofitting techniques using FRP/Textile composites, and recycled concrete applications. Served as editor/reviewer for 20+ journals including Dicle University Engineering Journal. Awards include 2009 Best Paper Award for FRP retrofitting research.

Active in structural analysis of historical buildings and disaster resilience. Published over 50 SCI/SCIE papers and 5 book chapters. Lab leadership: Former head of Structural Engineering Laboratory (2010-2018). Current research integrates quantitative post-earthquake analysis with material innovation.
