Enrique Martinez-Rueda

Enrique Martinez-Rueda is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Architecture, Technology and Engineering at the University of Brighton. His work focuses on structural and earthquake engineering, with an emphasis on seismic resilience, retrofitting, and energy dissipation systems.

Research Interests:
His research spans Structural Earthquake Engineering, Nonlinear Modeling of RC Structures, Seismic Retrofitting, and Development of Low-Cost Hysteretic Devices. He investigates composite systems such as timber-to-concrete and RC-to-FRC members, as well as rocking columns and scaling of earthquake records for accurate seismic analysis.

Recent Research Trends:
His recent publications (2017–2022) emphasize modeling of C-shaped hysteretic devices, seismic upgrading of precast RC frames, and development of equivalent inelastic springs. These works highlight a consistent focus on practical, non-invasive retrofit solutions using advanced computational modeling and finite element analysis.
