Ida Karlsson is an Assistant Professor and Docent at Karolinska Institutet, affiliated with the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics. She leads the research group 'Cardiometabolic Epidemiology and Aging' and collaborates with Sara Hägg's 'Molecular Epidemiology of Aging' group.
- Education: PhD in Medical Epidemiology (Karolinska, 2017), Master of Medical Science (Karolinska, 2010).
- Research Focus: Investigating the interplay of genetic and environmental factors in aging-related diseases, particularly how adiposity heterogeneity affects dementia, cardiovascular disease, and type 2 diabetes.
- Teaching: Course director for 'Introduction to Genetic and Molecular Epidemiology' (Karolinska) and 'Statistical Methods' (Jönköping University).
- Leadership: Leads the IGEMS consortium's work on cardiometabolic risk factors of Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementias, and co-chairs its statistical methods and polygenic scores groups.
