Håkan Jönson is a Professor at the School of Social Work, Lund University, specializing in ageing studies and eldercare. He leads the Southern group and national network for social science research on ageing and eldercare. His work focuses on social problems affecting seniors, policy analysis, and user-centric care models. He has secured significant research funding (over 35 million SEK since 2015) for projects addressing home care integration, substance abuse in elderly populations, and age-based policy disparities. He serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Aging Studies since 2004.
Research interests include ageism, eldercare policies, nursing home abuse, and disability service comparisons. He collaborates internationally and has published widely on topics like residential reasoning among seniors and involuntary home care transitions. His work aligns with UN SDGs related to quality education and reduced inequalities.
Teaching focuses on research methods and eldercare aspects at the School of Social Work. He supervises graduate students and has contributed to 132 research outputs across articles, books, and conference presentations.
