Dr. Hongbo (Daisy) Liu is a Senior Lecturer in Hospitality at the University of Surrey's School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. She holds a BA in Tourism Management from Fudan University, an MS in International Hospitality and Tourism Management from University of South Carolina, and a PhD in Business Administration from Temple University. Her research focuses on digital marketing, social media, digital technology, cross-cultural studies, and consumer psychology in tourism and hospitality.
Dr. Liu has led or co-authored over 35 publications and worked on more than 20 funded projects. She serves as Programme Leader for MSc in International Hospitality Management with Digital Innovation and as Student Exchange Coordinator. Her research projects include studies on social media bragging effects, user-generated photos, and digital innovation in hospitality.
She currently supervises three postgraduate research students exploring augmented reality experiences for D/deaf individuals, wellbeing of Muslim medical travelers, and smart hotel customer experiences. Her teaching portfolio includes undergraduate courses on service marketing and technology, and postgraduate courses on research methods and digital marketing.
