Hien Dang, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the College of Life Sciences. His laboratory investigates RNA binding proteins (RBPs) in primary liver cancer (PLC), focusing on their roles as biomarkers and therapeutic targets. Research employs bioinformatics, functional genomics, translational approaches, and animal models to dissect RBP-driven oncogenesis.
Research Interests: Dr. Dang's work spans molecular epidemiology, RNA biology, and cancer biology, with emphasis on PLC pathophysiology. Key interests include:
- Disease-acquired RBP functions
- Translational diagnostics development
- Tumor microenvironment dynamics
- Preclinical therapeutic targeting
Publications focus on hepatocellular carcinoma mechanisms, including tumor matrix biology, immunotherapy responses, and mitochondrial targeting strategies. Recent work includes a 2023 correction on matrix-induced exosome secretion in Nature Cell Biology.
Dr. Dang leads an independent research lab utilizing multidisciplinary approaches for PLC research. No awards, grants, or student advisees are currently documented.
