Haiyong Han

Dr. Haiyong Han is a Professor at the Clinical Genomics and Therapeutics Division of the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen). He leads the Basic Research Unit within the Pancreatic Cancer Program, focusing on developing early detection markers and novel therapeutics for pancreatic cancer.

• Primary Focus: Pancreatic cancer with emphasis on tumor microenvironment (TME) targeting, biomarker discovery, and small molecule drug development.
• Key Collaborations: Works closely with clinicians to analyze patient samples and preclinical models.

His research spans genetic, molecular, and biochemical abnormalities in pancreatic cancer, with projects targeting extracellular matrix components, stromal fibroblasts, and immune cells in the TME. He also explores metabolic therapies like the ketogenic diet and innovative drug delivery systems such as acoustic cluster therapy (ACT®).

Publication Trends: Recent work focuses on super-enhancer networks, RNA-binding proteins, exosome-based biomarkers, and overcoming KRAS/c-Myc targeting challenges in pancreatic cancer. His 2023 publications highlight single-cell analysis of tumor subtypes and antibody-based therapies.

Laboratory Focus: The Han Lab develops multimeric ligands, glycan markers, and small molecules for clinical translation, leveraging preclinical models and collaborations with medicinal chemists.
