Helena Korpelainen is a Docent at the Department of Agricultural Sciences, University of Helsinki, Finland. She serves as a supervisor in three doctoral programs: Plant Sciences, Sustainable Use of Renewable Natural Resources, and Wildlife Biology. Her research focuses on molecular ecology, population genetics, and plant-soil-microbe interactions, particularly in dioecious species.
- Institution: University of Helsinki, Department of Agricultural Sciences
- Supervisory roles: Plant Sciences, Renewable Resources, Wildlife Biology doctoral programs
Her work examines sex-specific nutrient acquisition strategies, microbial community dynamics in rhizospheres, and stress responses in poplar and tea plantations. Recent publications explore selenium's role in plant nutrition and circadian microbial rhythms in tea crops.
She collaborates extensively through the Viikki Plant Science Centre (ViPS) and has secured funding from foundations like the Emil Aaltionen Foundation and Kone Foundation. Media engagements include topics on evolution perceptions and date palm stress tolerance.
