A/Professor Helen Spiropoulos is an Associate Professor in the Accounting Discipline Group at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) Business School. She holds a PhD in Accounting (2014) and dual undergraduate degrees in IT and Business (First Class Honours with University Medal). Her research focuses on Sustainability Reporting, Gender Diversity in Corporate Governance, Executive Compensation, and M&A. She has led major initiatives during the pandemic as Deputy Associate Dean (Learning Innovation) and serves as Associate Editor for the Australian Journal of Management and Managerial Auditing Journal.

Research Interests: Helen examines how firms report on sustainability, gender representation in corporate boards, executive pay structures, and financial reporting standards like IFRS 16. Her work has appeared in The Accounting Review and Journal of Corporate Finance, with media coverage in Australian Financial Review and ABC Radio.
Grants & Leadership: Recent grants include studies on Modern Slavery compliance and climate-related disclosures. She has supervised 4 PhD and 10 Honours students. Her teaching includes advanced financial accounting subjects like Quantitative Skills for Accounting & Finance Research and Financial Reporting and Analysis.
Awards: Distinguished Chancellor List Award (2014), JCAE Best Paper Award (2016), and University Medal for undergraduate studies.
