Heidi L Castle-Smith is an Assistant Professor and Resident Scenographer in the Department of Theatre, Dance and Performance Studies at St. Mary's College of Maryland. She is also a co-founder and Co-Artistic Director of Transformation Theatre, an organization dedicated to amplifying underrepresented voices in playwriting.
- Ph.D. in Theatre History and Performance Studies, University of Maryland College Park
- M.F.A. in Scenic Design and Scenic Art, Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University
Her research and teaching focus on Theatrical Design, Costume Design, Set Design, Theatre History, Scenic Painting, and Stage Properties. She has presented on topics like the construction of actresses' identity through portraiture during the Restoration period.
Heidi has extensive professional experience as a set designer and scenic artist in Washington DC, including credits for Transformation Theatre, Voices Festival Productions, and the Chesapeake Shakespeare Company.
