Hattie Syme is a Professor of Small Animal Internal Medicine at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC), specializing in feline nephrology, urology, and endocrinology. She directs the RVC’s Internal Medicine residency (SCTS) program and serves as Senior Clinical Tutor for BVetMed years 3-5, interns, and residents.

Her research focuses on geriatric cat diseases, particularly chronic kidney disease, hypertension, hyperthyroidism, and hyperaldosteronism, alongside canine urolithiasis, UTIs, and incontinence. She advocates minimally invasive techniques like laser lithotripsy for urology cases.
Key awards include the IRIS Award (2002), Dame Olga Uvarov Award (2008), Blaine Award (2015), and Petplan Charitable Trust Research Award (2020). She contributes to CPD courses in nephrology/urology and endocrinology via lectures and online platforms.
