Hans Bagge serves as a Senior Lecturer and Head of Division at the Division of Building Physics within the Faculty of Engineering at Lund University. He also holds the position of Program Director for the five-year Master of Science in Civil Engineering Program, overseeing approximately 500 students. As a Profile Area Member of the LTH Profile Area: Circular Building Sector, he contributes significantly to sustainable building research.
Dr. Bagge's research focuses on analyses and models regarding requirements, predictions, monitoring and verifications of energy performance and indoor environments of buildings. His work spans critical areas including water damage prevention, thermal insulation in building structures, renovation of heritage buildings, and sustainable building practices across Nordic countries. His research portfolio demonstrates a strong commitment to addressing practical challenges in building physics while contributing to UN Sustainable Development Goals.
His publication record reveals a clear trend toward practical solutions for building sustainability, with particular emphasis on water damage prevention across Nordic building stocks, thermal performance in residential structures, and holistic approaches to heritage building renovation. These works bridge theoretical building physics with real-world applications in the construction industry.
- Award for research excellence in district heating and cooling (2021)
Dr. Bagge actively leads and participates in multiple significant research projects including 'Improving Sustainability by Reducing Water Damage' (2024-2026), 'Urban Arena' (2022-present), 'Bättre inomhusmiljö-vädringsvanor i flerfamiljshus' (2022-2025), 'En hållbar cirkulär byggindustri' (2021-2023), and 'Reducing water damage costs in buildings by a holistic approach to technology, users and risks' (2020-2023). His collaborative approach is evident through his participation in extensive research networks across Lund University and with industry partners.
