Kristina Mjörnell is an Adjunct Professor at Lund University's Division of Building Physics, affiliated with the LTH Faculty of Engineering. She is a member of the LTH Profile Area: Circular Building Sector. Her work focuses on energy efficiency, sustainable building practices, and predictive modeling of building performance.
She holds a Docent title and has contributed to over 42 research outputs, including studies on second homes' energy efficiency, moisture damage prediction via machine learning, and circular economy applications in construction. Her projects, such as the ASSURE initiative, address urban space adaptation and sustainable regeneration.
Key research interests include building stock optimization, environmental impact analysis, and integrating AI into construction. Her recent work applies machine learning to predict moisture damages and assess energy renovation potentials in multi-family buildings.
Current projects include leading the ASSURE project (2023–2027) and an AI-based predictive modeling initiative funded by Stiftelsen länsförsäkringsgruppens forsknings- och utvecklingsfond (2022–2024).
She has supervised six academic works and contributed to policy-relevant studies on energy efficiency measures and material reuse in Sweden.
