Hannah Walters is a Lecturer in Education Policy and Programme Director for the MA Education at King's College London, based in the School of Education, Communication & Society within the Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy. She holds an MRes in Equality + Human Rights and a PhD from the University of Glasgow, focusing on the educational experiences of working-class young women in vocational beauty education.
Her research interests include gender equality (SDG 5), feminist theory, girls and girlhood, class-gender intersections, and participatory research methods. She is a co-founder of the British Sociological Association’s Social Class Study Group and founder of the UK Girl Studies Network. She serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal for Critical Education Policy Studies and is active in professional bodies like BERA and BSA.
Hannah teaches on MA Education and BA Social Sciences courses and supervises PhD research aligned with her areas of expertise. She is affiliated with the Centre for Public Policy Research (CPPR), which focuses on social justice and policy analyses. Key events she has organized include the UK Girl Studies Network kick-off event (2022) and postgraduate offer holder events.
