Hannah Doermann

Hannah Doermann is a faculty member in the Department of English at Penn State University, specializing in contemporary U.S. American literature with a focus on gender studies and youth culture. Her research bridges literary analysis with queer theory, postcolonial studies, and fan studies to interrogate representations of girlhood in Young Adult (YA) literature.

Her work explores how YA literature challenges linear models of adolescence through affective fan communities and anti-teleological frameworks, addressing intersections of age, gender, and race.
